wierd noise on the way home from work

Post by Bevii3 »

Hi all, after a bit of advice. was driving home when I heard what sounded like a lot of compressed releasing. The sound only went on for a few seconds and i pulled over as soon as possible thinking i'd got a flat tire only to find all the tires looked good. the car drove fine the rest of the way back and havent really noticed anything since.
I know nothing about cars or what it could have been, ive gone out for another drive just to make sure and i had the air con running to see if something happened to that but I was getting cold air come out so nothing wrong there.

does anyone have any ideas what it could have been or has anyone experienced this before? i have a 2013 blue gt with just over 22k miles. thanks

Difficult to diagnose without hearing it but could it be excess turbo boost being dumped?

I share the view of Ricmondo, difficult to diagnose. Maybe a leak in the pressure charging system? Leaky radiator? Leaky aircon system?

air con seems fine aswell as the turbo as I don't seem to have lost any power. is the excess turbo being dumped normal or anything to worry about? the car hasnt made a noise like that since it happened, how can I tell if I have a leaky radiator? thanks for the help

wastegate operation is normal, but I'm not sure whether your car has a wastegate or VGT/VNT system.
