2010 1.2 TDI EGR fault

Post by Clutchy »

I have a 2010 Polo 1.2 TDI that has the fault code: P0405 EGR sensor A circuit low.

I have been quoted around £7/800 to replace.

Is there a cheaper alternative, its been on for the last 3 months but the car drives perfectly fine.

I've been looking at EGR deletes etc and don't know what the cheapest option would be.

Essentially I just want the EML turned off permanently for this fault code. Is this a service someone would offer? Any suggestions?

Thank you for your help. I know a generic code reader would only reset the EML for it to come back on minutes later. Not sure if ?VAGCOM? would have a way round it, if thats even what its called nowadays! (ex MK4 golf owner)

Just get it fixed. Perhaps vw could offer some warranty or goodwill if your car had the emissions update.

VCDS it is called nowadays, I'd doubt if it can exclude this EGR valve.

Has any of this got anything to do with the dieselgate fix? If so VW Group should cover any failures in that area for a few years, have you researched this at all on the internet in case you are eligible for a FOC fix?

Edit:- beaten to it!

Many thanks for the replies.

Just called them

Turns out they did some works regarding the emissions and the 24 month warranty on it expired 17 days ago!! Can't believe I didn't call a few months ago

Oh!!!!!!!

Now, thinking logically or not, now that many 1.2TDIs are out there and have run out of warranty that was added to these parts when the emissions work was carried out originally, surely an aftermarket company was engineered a fix that is a real fix, as from your experience even fitted new parts would only give this car another 6 months (guess) life without the emissions light come back on which is an MOT failure - which would also end up with a same outcome if you failed a roadside spot inspection.

Edit:- maybe ask a tuning company, you would need to declare an engine mods to your insurer so maybe that needs balancing up against the cost of replacing the parts with standard parts every ?? months?

I've appealed to their customer service team in case they can assist with a partial contribution, fingers crossed.
