Cup Holders

Post by wul3er »

Am i right in thinking that some polo's come with cup holders, similar to those on the mk4 Golf.
Does anyone have these, or seen them

Indeed they do.

The S, SE, 16v and GTi models came with (as I recall) one cupholder that pops out of the console housing the stereo and central air vents.

E models were not fitted with the cupholder. Or anything else really!

this could be what you're after.... or a solution at least!

click the link, check 'product over view', then 'Polo', then 'interior parts' and hey presto!

When I get a McD's brekkie I have the coffee - I put that in my cupholder, and when I got to the first roundabout it was slopping out all over my ashtray/gearlever gaiter :( buggers fill it too full... or I drive too quickly! Holder's pretty solid though, the cup itself stayed put all the way. Just the damn coffee that wanted out

BTW, for those of you that don't already have a cupholder: is the coin tray there or do you just have a blank panel?

Have to remember that the E model was stripped out to save weight :D Well, thats what I like to believe anyway!

Strangest thing about the specs on the Mk5 Polo is that even the E got electrically heated and adjustable side-mirrors, but only wind-up windows. Know which I'd prefer.

Yeah, with lower models, the stripping often doesn't make sense from an economic point of view.

I mean drums on the back. I fail to see the logic. Drums are not lighter, and they are not cheaper, why not make all your cars with the same hub? And with the electrically heated mirrors, I suppose its because its too costly to develop two versions, they probably outsource it anyway.

Look at the eurofighter... Its the same. The british don't want a cannon because its too costly 2m per year to maintain for a fleet. So they asked for it to be removed. Then they had to make a blank of equal size and weight. Then that had to be certified. 90m later, they decided probably best to put the real cannon in, but not use it, don't wire it up. -Sounds like VW!
