Broken Door Barell on Drivers Side POLO 2010 S

Hi guys,

Over the past month, my drivers side door lock won’t lock or unlock, and the key keeps spinning 360 degrees in the door. This is the lock barell from the door. I’ve attatched a link to the photo below.

Does anyone know if it is fixable?? It’s a 2010 Polo S 1.2 5 door.

Is the metal blade on the left side of the photo still firmly attached to the key, when inserted? If not, you need a new lock barrel. I'm not sure whether it's possible to transplant the key part to a new barrel.

Thanks for the fast response! Yeah when the key is inserted the bit at the top that turns is a little bit wobbly but does not turn right or left.

You might be able to get a suitable lock ordered in to suit your key, ask your local VW dealer, you will need to provide proof of ownership before they will order in a new one to suit your key.

So much for all these VW Group car lock repair kits that are on ebay, it looks like VW Group have redesigned the lock barrels, so now the replaceable "paddle" does not break, just the lock barrel breaks!!

Maybe a bit of a project for the future for you to see if you can remove the key lock elements for swopping to another barrel?

thank you for this! Yeah I had ordered a repair kit thinking it was the same as mine but it wasn’t.
