Re: Power steering fluid
As you should not need to top up much, I’d stick with VW Group sourced stuff.
I know that you are not asking this question, but that system should not need topped up, it may look like it it is low, but as long as it touches/wets the base of the built in dip stick then it is okay.

Re: Power steering fluid
RUM4MO,
My understanding was that on 6C's there simply isn't a steering fluid to top up, as the steering drive is supposed to be all-electric. Thus I can't figure out why the OP and all other respondents are inferring that a steering fluid reservoir exists on the 6C GTI. Have I been labouring under a misapprehension?

Re: Power steering fluid
You are indeed correct saying that the 6C has a full electromechanical power steering. However, OP is referring to a 1.4 TSI (twincharged) 6R GTI, which has an electrohydraulich system (the horrible whine from the engine bay when moving the steering wheel when standing still comes from there).veteran wrote: Sat Jan 26, 2019 9:13 pm RUM4MO,

Oops, my mistake! I didn't look close enough at the OP's vehicle description.
