Does anyone here know where I can get a GT rev counter for my 94 CL squareback please. From what I can gather, it's best to replace the whole speedo unit as one. Is that right?
I'm also going to be looking for a new interior as well as i've had mine valeted and it still looks awful. Any suggestions of where to look?
thanks in advance
Jim

The way to replace clocks is to take a whole new unit, remove the speedometer from it, remove the speedometer from your old unit and install it into the new unit. That way you keep your existing mileage reading and don't get into trouble from the DVLA for not filling in hundreds of forms declaring that you've tampered with your mileage.
As for interiors.. just have to wait around until one pops up really. Check scrapyards.. just occasionally you'll find an interior in decent nick there, although it's rare..

You say yours is a '94? Mines a '93, and I encountered problems which I think are linked to the revisions that VW carried out in the run-out year. I had a problem with the oil pressure warning light and buzzer going off due to my car having one pressure sensor (reading both high and low), and the GT clocks (from an earlier car) needing two sensors to function correctly (1 sensor for high pressure, one for low).
Just be wary of this problem. I have yet to find a solution, unless I can try some late spec GT clocks from a mid '93 onwards GT. Failing that if I can identify the high and low pressure sensor inputs on the clocks and bridge them, I might be able to solve it. Otherwise I'm getting an after market one.
As for the interior, its a case of scouring ebay, or ocassionally one may turn up in the for sale section.
Karl.

Thanks guys
thanks for your help guys, i've bought a set of seat covers for the moment as the seats really do look minging, just until I find a decent set.
I've discovered why the seats look bad - it's because the sunroof is not sealing properly when I close it, and water has obviously dripped onto them. I have looked at the closing mechanism, and when I close it fully it ends up with less tension on the handle and a loose seal than if I leave the handle pointing downwards if anyone knows what I mean. Can I change the tension of this somehow?
Jim
