VW polo 9N E aftermarket radio

Post by Bepis »

Hi new poster to the forum.

I read a thread on fitting an aftermarket radio into a polo 9n and the thread died (roughly 2-3 years old) and it was for fitting a 1 DIN radio.

I want to fit an Alpine ilx-700 which I believe to be a 2 DIN head unit and 2 after market speakers and possibly tweeters (I can’t find confirmation if the polo e has any).

My main questions are:

Is this head unit compatible with my car the car currently has the larger Gamma radio (I could be wrong but it does not have a tray underneath as I have seen in others) and if not what do I need to make it work?

Edit: it looks similar to the gamma radio but it has a cassette player as well as a CD player.

What speaker size fits so I don’t buy ones that are too big or don’t fit in the space between the door card and door?

How could I go about mounting control on the steering wheel?

Im willing to do the work myself depending on what is required to be done.

Thanks in advance

Size wise, I don't think there's a difference. It's a rectangle slot so should fit.

Buy it, if it doesn't, return it.

You will need the normal shiz. Ignition live, canbus adapter thing, the relase keys for the original radio (99p-£3 ish, don't spend more on these...)

Is there not a cd changer under the passenger seat?

Mounting on the wheel? No clue, haven't bothered.

Speaker size, 6.5 inch. If you replace the tweeter, you'll need a crossover. Some sellers supply these.

You'll need the door mount for the speaker.

Hope that somewhat helps.
