GPF Filter removal
Has anyone with a 2019 gti+ removed their GPF filter and if so would it need a remap after or is it fine just to remove it

Re: GPF Filter removal
It will definitely require some kind of software update for the car to forget it had one and not throw up errors as a result of implausible sensory values without it.Dionbutton1892 wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2020 2:01 pm Has anyone with a 2019 gti+ removed their GPF filter and if so would it need a remap after or is it fine just to remove it

Re: GPF Filter removal
Has been done by at least one forum member that I know of. Many more people will have done it I'm sure. Will need a software alteration for sure. Because you are in the UK the removal of the device will be illegal, so if you do proceed with a GPF delete, you have been warned.Dionbutton1892 wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2020 2:01 pm Has anyone with a 2019 gti+ removed their GPF filter and if so would it need a remap after or is it fine just to remove it

There’s a fair chance you’ll also be invalidating your insurance, and driving without valid insurance is also illegal.l3rady wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2020 4:36 pmHas been done by at least one forum member that I know of. SInce you didn't ask about that and I'm not your mother nor am I your lawyer, I will not tell you what's legal and what's notDionbutton1892 wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2020 2:01 pm Has anyone with a 2019 gti+ removed their GPF filter and if so would it need a remap after or is it fine just to remove it
Sometimes I feel like this forum should change it's name to The Legal Forum....
To answer your question: yes, you will need a remap. Just removing the GPF will result in power loss, car going into limp mode and "check engine" light will come up.
