Recently Purchased Polo GTI

Post by LRGTI »

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and new to owning a Polo GTI.

I've purchased a 2016 (1.8, DSG, 3 door) with slightly higher mileage (50,000) but from history appears to have been looked after and is in very good condition.

Is there anything in particular that I need to look out for with it being slightly higher mileage?

The car was sitting for around 2 months and i have noticed that when I drive the car hard (hard acceleration to rev limiter) there is a strong burning smell however, the temperature is sitting where it should be. Does anyone know what this could be?

Any ideas and info would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Is the strong burning smell got a clutch aroma to it?

Has the car had a remap?

The dsg in the 6c gti is not one vw's best. It's a dry clutch dsg so doesn't have oil to help.

Hi there,

I've had a manual car before with the clutch that was on the way out and that smelt much worse than this.

If it was the clutch going, I'd be noticing it with all types of driving, not just when driving it hard, on my daily commute to work, it's fine.

I know the car was sitting for a few months so I didn't know if this had anything to do with it.

Thanks for your quick reply on this.
