Flip reverse camera not working
Hi,
Bought Flip logo Reverse camera from aliexpress. Connected the Blue wire for reverse signal to Black/Blue wire of taillight. Black was connected to ground and Red was tapped into Power cable of HU. Did the vcds coding. But the camera doesn't pop up and the HU shows a error of The rear view camera is not available. Any solutions to this or the product is only faulty.

Re: Flip reverse camera not working
Hurm. I guess the forum will need more details and photos and type of camera and wiring you install to help you further.
In my experience, normally if you got such message from the headunit, it means that it doesnt receive the video input from the camera. So i guess, its better to check the camera wiring first.

Do you have the right unit to take a reverse camera input.
You also haven't mentioned the wiring for the video signal?

Flip reverse camera not working
ok. so now i assumed:
a) the flip mechanism did open when you select reverse? (just to be sure, you need to close the rear lid when testing this)
b) from where you tap the power for the camera? I can see there are 4 pins wires for the camera but the one that goes to your headunit (RCD330G+ i guess) are only 2 wires. The other 2 should be +30 permanent 12V power and the ground.

Re: Flip reverse camera not working
No the flip mechanisms doesn't open (did the lid test still no use) yeah it's Rcd 330g I guess. Did tap into the permanent 12v power sources as ciclo had mentioned. And ground was connected to a ground terminal in trunk.benzinkopf wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 2:59 pm ok. so now i assumed:

Re: Flip reverse camera not working
can you open your boot with the flip? i know that the flip camera wont allow you to open/unlock the boot if it doesnt get the power. As it didn’t flip open, it means either it doesnt get power or you are tapping the wrong signal for reverse.

Re: Flip reverse camera not working
The boot opens with the flip logo only issue is while reverse the camera doesn't pop up and on the HU I get the error message that the rear camera is not available. I have tapped the black/blue wire for reverse. It's the 5th pin in the connector. And don't know this might help or not. But I have polo 6c led tail lamps.benzinkopf wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 3:13 pm can you open your boot with the flip? i know that the flip camera wont allow you to open/unlock the boot if it doesnt get the power. Re: Flip reverse camera not working
If the boot switch good, then the module got the power.
Even if it doesn’t flip open, you should get the camera image which is black image as it is inside.
My conclusion, the reverse signal not doing its job to flip open the module and the camera is not sending any video output.
Even it needs the relay box for such camera (for the red wires from the two yellow video connector), you will either get flickering image sort of problems only. So i’m not sure. Perhaps, the supplied wiring got issue.

Re: Flip reverse camera not working
Can I connect the reverse signal to positive terminal of battery for bench test?
