6c GTI seats

Hi, just a quick question. I am wanting to change the seats In my polo. I wondered if anyone has or knows if the golf mark 5 gti front seats fit into the car, or even the newer shaped golf gti seats.

I can remember forum member D7VXD fitting a set of mk6 Golf GTI seats in their Polo 6r - it would’ve probably been around three years ago. They’ve not been active on the forum for a couple of years so they may no longer have the car. I don’t think it was a straight swap though - from memory I think they had to modify the existing seat runners / rails or fabricate new ones to get the larger seats from the Golf to fit - they may have needed to make other modifications too, but I can’t remember. The seats from a mk5 or mk6 Golf GTI should be basically the same size, as the mk6 Golf was pretty much a heavily facelifted mk5 Golf.

If you do decide to fit different seats, bear in mind that the seats from a Golf will be different for 3 and 5 door models, so if your Polo is a 3 door, you’d need seats from a 3 door Golf that have the tilt forward function to enable passengers to get in and out of the rear of your car. The larger Golf seats fitted in a 3 door Polo may make it a bit of a tight squeeze to get in and out of the back seat anyway, so that might be a consideration if you have a 3 door and regularly carry rear seat passengers.

I‘m pretty sure the mk7 Golf seats are larger than those in the mk5 / mk6 Golf so they may not physically fit in a 6c Polo.

Sure u can, but you have to modify the rails.
