Thermal housing
My Polo GT is four years old and has done 31000 miles. The coolant level keeps going down (from max to min in 40 miles) and my garage says the thermal housing needs replacing. They say it’s a common issue. Has anyone else had a problem with this?

Thermostat housing leaks and water pump failure is quite a common problem / weak area with VW’s. I’ve not had the problem personally on any of the VW’s I’ve owned, but if you Google ‘VW water pump and thermostat housing issues’, you’ll see it’s a subject that’s discussed quite often on various forums.
