FAO: anyone else who's fitted TT/337 pedals!

I recently ordered a full set of 337 (GTi Anni.) pedals for my Polo, and IIRC I asked Martyn for RHD clutch and brake, LHD gas. Got them on Friday, so took the opportunity to fit them on Saturday.

Gas pedal went straight on with very little problems - you can lift the pedal up quite a bit from its rest position, which helps in getting the pedal on and making sure its secure

Original brake pedal came off after a little persuasion, but the 337 brake pedal is a different shape its got a rubber 'extrusion' like the clutch pedal has, but on the right of the pedal, not the left. Can't really describe it very easily lol but the original rubber pedal I took off is flat on the back, apart from the 'plug' which holds it in place.

So, the clutch pedal. This ones fine, but its unbelievably difficult to get on! Took a little while and some bruised fingertips to get the old one off, resorted to using an allen key to hook under the pedal and lever it off

Coincidentally, the part numbers I had delivered from Martyn are:

1M0 721 961A 337 Brake Pedal Rubber
1M0 721 275A 337 Clutch Pedal Rubber

Are these the RHD or LHD parts? They're supposed to be RHD!

Finally, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the pedals on a bit more easily? I know they're gonna be a tight fit, so that they don't pop off mid-journey, but they're so difficult to get on! D'oh...

It was suggested by a mate that a little silicone grease or fairy liquid or something might help get them on - when I figure out how to get them on and off a bit easier I'll be breaking out the araldite...

Don't use silicone whatever you do - fairy liquid OK (apart from the high salt content) silicone is terrible stuff - everso hard to get rid of plastic/rubber and if they are hard to get on without silicone - with silicone on you'll have a job to just hang on to em in your hands

I'd hate to think of the foot slipped accident as a result of silicone residue

I know one of the big (insurance) issues with alloy pedal extensions is that they can contribute to a loss of control with wet shoes.....

I've also read about the isuues with pedal extensions, however: the TT/337 pedals are OEM, so therefore much safer than, say, Momo or Sparco or some-such other company's pedals, which don't have rubber on them.

I've got the metal gas pedal on, thats just fine - put me foot on it and tried to deliberately slip my foot off - pretty darn secure IMO! Went to Market Drayton and back too, so did about 60 miles yesterday without incident. Just wanna get the other 2 on now, looks most odd
