Key Fob Synced and Full Battery but not working!

Post by ath14 »

Hi guys,

I bought a VW Polo last week - a 2016 1.0 Bluemotion. Everything was working as fine until yesterday, I took a short trip from home to a friends house, when I left my home I unlocked the car using the button on the key, and it was perfectly fine. But when I got to the destination, got out of my car and tried to lock it, the buttons on the key weren't working. I thought maybe it needed resyncing, but today I tested the key AND the spare key that stayed at home, and the lock/unlock buttons on both keys are NOT working. Also, now the alarm is going off every single time I unlock the car after (manually) locking it - which is of course the only way I can unlock the car.

The issue isn't the fact that the battery is dead OR that it needs resyncing, because when I hold the unlock button the car windows roll down, and vice versa when holding the lock button.

Does anyone have a clue what the issue may be? Or how I can resolve this? The alarm keeps blaring really loud every single time I unlock my car now. And its a pain manually locking and unlocking all the time.

Any help is really greatly appreciated, thank you.

Did you buy this from a dealer or privte seller ? if its was a dealer then just take it back and explain your concerns im sure this will get sorted .

So the car is seeing the key signal because you can roll the windows up and down ( keys must be ok) does the lock/unlock button on the drivers door work ?

Thanks for the reply, CarbonChaos.

It was bought from a dealer in Ealing, London. I can take it back to him but I need the car every day for work so its a bit of an issue if he cant fix it on the same day. The lock and unlock button from inside the car, on the drivers door are working absolutely fine - its just the keys that are faulty. Very odd that its both the main and spare key that're faulty too, not just one of them.

you at least have to give them the chance to fix it first, can they supply you with a loan car for the duration of the repair most dealers will its worth a phone call seing as you not had the car long

its odd that the car is seeing keys but no remote cdl and the buttons are working on the door
