Tire to use on trackday

Post by rizarulaltiz »

Hi guys.

Need advice and opinion for my Polo GTI.

I am running Giti Control 280 215/45/17 on my car with 8jj OZ Crono wheels.

Currently on stage 3 ETuners custom ECU map and stage 2 ETuners DSG map.

The outcome is around 300hp on crank and close to 300nm of torque.

I am constantly getting wheel spin around 4-5k rpm at 3rd and 4th gear. I am aiming to reduce this wheelspin hence improving my traction for the upcoming trackday in Sepang Circuit.

Should i go for taller or wider wheels? Need an advice on this matter.

I'd suggest to avoid wheelspin no matter what tire. Spin = no control and no power.
But what about a nice trackday-legal slick or semi-slick?

i think ur best off with semi slicks, nankang ar1, yokohamas.

the most road looking and stickies tire should be continental, but they wear faster.

if you move to 18, you will lower your torque output.

meaty tires will be more resistant to overheating than the thin wall tire.

that is my opinion

I agree. im looking at ad08r as well. but havent decided on which size to go.

should i go for one size above?

is it fine if i use wider tire in front, and maintain 215/45 at rear?

im looking at semi ad08r, some zestino, and kumho v720. not planning to get 18 as well.

so i should get tire with thicker wall correct?

I doubt you can fit anything larger that 215/45 without rubbing.
