A colleague is asking, I've completely forgotten.
If you're braking hard, does the gearbox change down as you brake or just 'freewheel' and then decide what gear it needs as you drive off again?
In D mode?
In S mode?
I have to say I simply can't remember.

Yes in all modes (Normal, Sport and Eco) it will change down as you brake. It will also change down more aggressively if you're braking whilst going downhill, I have found.

In Eco mode it will knock it out of gear and 'coast' if you're neither accelerating or braking, however as soon as you press the brake it will put itself back in gear and give you engine braking.

Talking about braking, when your in adaptive cruise control, and you've got it set too 60 MPH, you come up to a person driving at 57 MPH, the censers automatically slow you to that speed of 57 MPH while keeping a safe distance.
Now my question is, Do the brake lights come on as your brakes are applied (by the system) to slow you down?

I've not actually been able to check, however I'd have thought for safety that the brake lights would illuminate at any time the brakes are applied, whether by the ACC or by the driver.

Yep 100%, the brake lights illuminate under any automatic braking.. there’s a app in obdeleven that illuminates the hazard button to show you when the car is braking.
