Post by andythebubble »

Has anyone ever tried fitting golf IV seats in the mkIV polo? Willl they fit?? If not, what other seats would of standard cars?

Being discussed before i think...

The outcome was they will fit, but require custom subframes. I've you can get some GTi Recaros though then Recaro Direct should be able to sort the subframes for you.

I'm sure Speedlaw will be along in a bit for a more detailed explantion...

Cheers

Uhuh.

The proces is not too complicated really. You need the MK4 Golf seats and a custom made 'L' shaped bracket.

The runners on the Golf seats are too wide, so they'll need to be narrowed. Just the runners, mind, not the whole base. You'll see what I mean when you're at that point.

Then, the front mount needs to be modified. The regular Polo bracket needs to go, and should be replaced with a single 'L' shaped metal bracket. You then mount this bracket to the floor of the car (welding needed) and proceed to bolt the seat to the bracket.

Now, as a disclaimer, I have not tried this or even seen this being done, this is all stuff from other forums/people I've spoken to. Therefore, I can't vouch for its accuracy or completeness.

Essentially; it's a bit of work, but no rocket science.

It's easier, but potentially more expensive as well.
