Hi,
first of all, I'am sorry for my english, I'am from Slovakia and i didn't write in english a lot.

I've just bought a set of new wheels.
Originally they are from Audi A1 (2019) and they are 7.5j r17 et 46. Original size for Polo is 7j r17 et46 or Cross Polo has 7.5j r17 but et38... I have 9mm space between shock absorber and rim... is it enough? or do I need some spacers?

I know, but which diameter? I was planning to buy 205/40... they will stretch little bit and I think there will be no problem... I hope so

Thanks, I know about this site :-)

215/40 r17 7j et46 vs 205/40 r17 7.5j et46

Compared to your existing wheel, this new wheel will have an inner rim which is 6.4mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 6.4mm more than before.

so...

That makes perfect sense, the ET of the two wheels is the same just the rim width is different.
So 6.4mm x 2 = 12.8mm which is about 1/2 inch (ie 7j to 7.5 j) tyre size not included

I know
I think if now I have 9mm between shock absorber and rim (whitout tyre) it would be OK... maybe I should use some 5mm spacers to enlarge gap between rim and shock absorber

9mm is ok. But not all tires are really the same width, some tires are round some square.
Id measure with tire, but if you.put spaces dont forget that younhave atleast 4 turns of whel bolt

I would buy some 205/40 tyres... I hope they will stretch a little bit, so there will be no problem... If I buy spacers a would buy longer bolts...

They look good ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž. Did you get 215/40 R17โ€ tyres? Thatโ€™s the size tyres VW fitted in the factory on 17โ€ alloys for the 6R / 6C Polo.

There shouldnโ€™t have been any issues with them fitting; the 6C Polo GTI standard alloys are 7.5J x 17โ€ ET44, so the same as your alloys apart from 2mm difference in offset.
