Hi guys.... so I've got a 2008 1.4TDi Dune... I'm getting intermittent power steering warning light coming on.... I've topped the fluid up but still comes on every now and then.... I'm also getting an intermittant, annoying squeak coming from the steering wheel, from somewhere in the column just behind the wheel.... any thoughts???

Did you make a scan of the car? (VCDS)

I've only got a basic OBD device.... I'll plug it in and see if it flags anything next time the fault comes up !!!

OBD says no fault stored in ECU

Fault light just came back on, rechecked but no fault showing on OBD

A basic obd reader will ONLY read the engine ecu

I did not know that.
Power steering fault should not be stored in the engine ECU memory.
Usually in adress 44 Lenkhilve/steering aid
I would suggest to go to someone that does have a full OBD2 scanner/reader.
Faults like this will most certainly be stored in the controle module as at least intermittent fault
