Polo 6r1 new throttle body help

Post by Seant268 »

2013 1.2 petrol polo-70hp

The girlfriends polo has been having an issue where the revs will drop by 200-300 rpm and then return to normal while idling in first gear.

I’m thinking a dodgey throttle position sensor might be the cause so I’m thinking of replacing the full throttle body and sensor all in one go.

Do I need to reprogram the car after replacing the throttle body? I know some cars will relearn themselves after a while .

I don’t want to go replacing the throttle body and end up needing a scan tool.

Any help appreciated :)

I think it will need to be aligned with a diagnostic tool

What mileage has that car run?
It sounds like being a bit of a gamble just replacing a TB without knowing if that will fix it.
Maybe start checking all air hoses for leaks, though getting someone to scan all the controllers might give you some useful info from any logged faults.
At higher mileages these 3 cylinder petrol 1.2 engines can have other issues.

The car has around 130k km, I’ve scanned it with OBD eleven and the only codes that appear are these 2, although they are both intermittent and it’s the first time I’ve scanned it since owning.

U041500- invalid Data Received From Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control.

01314 -Engine Control Module (ECM)

Just to add overall the car drives perfect , no issues with power or anything. Just drops the revs when idling and it’s not persistent. Perhaps just a dirty throttle valve?
