Hi all,
Got a 1.0tsi Polo, 110bhp with CHZC engine.
I had a EPC and a check engine light, and just a very shaky car which was idling like crazy.
Scanner threw up a P0638 for Throttle Actuator.
Anyway, my throttle body part number was O4C133062C, however I have replaced it with O4C133062D.
From what I can tell, the replacement one I fitted is not part of the CHZC engine, but for the slower models.
Therefore:
1. Would this be an issue? Unsure if the replacement one will limit power.
2. Do I need to do a throttle body relearn or adaptation? I do have VCDS, but not until next week so have just been using the car as is.
Also, my steering feels slightly heavier but I feel like the throttle body can not contribute to this?
Thanks!
1.0 TSI Throttle Body

Re: 1.0 TSI Throttle Body
Just out of interest, when you know that a turbo actuator fault is being logged, why have you ignored that and fitted an alternative(maybe) TB?

Re: 1.0 TSI Throttle Body
I said Throttle Actuator, not turbo and since there is a P0638 which related to the throttle bodyRUM4MO wrote: Tue Aug 06, 2024 11:51 am Just out of interest, when you know that a turbo actuator fault is being logged, why have you ignored that and fitted an alternative(maybe) TB?

I did check up the TB part numbers, and your original TB part number is still the only option for your engine.

And yeah I checked etka and it's just the original one.. but do we think there's an issue using the other one? I've fitted it and my car drives..
And do i need to do an alignment or adaptation?

In VW's world, letters indicate a modification:
It can be:
-A re-design
-A modification
-A new model
-An new manufacturer
Also, yeah, you need a tool to calibrate the throttle body, even if (I think) throttle body calibrate himself at the startup and when you switch off.

Hey! how is your car running? I remember we had a long discussion about Gearbox oils late last year!Le_Combattant wrote: Wed Aug 07, 2024 5:08 pm In VW's world, letters indicate a modification:

Who knows, according to ETKA, the original one of mine does not have a replacement or supersession.
Also, according to sites like Autodoc etc., the replacement I used is for engines such as 65/75bhp, while mine is a 110bhp. But I am unsure if there is an actual difference in the opening of the valve etc. which would increase/decrease... Maybe for the sake of £50 I should just put the correct one in.
& ok! When I have access to VCDS or another high end scanner with TBA, I will just do it

I just change the gearbox's oil few weeks ago with the official VW that cost a lot. But man, the feeling is great.
Normally, on ETKA you should have an indication like for exemple when you click on the part (old one)
a window open with the current part number you click on, and just below, the date in a red rectangle indicating the end of production with just below the new part number.
To be honest, I don't trust Autodoc or car website like that.
Diamters between the old and new throttle body are the same ?

Ah, I thought you changed it last year, or did you just leave it until now?Le_Combattant wrote: Wed Aug 07, 2024 5:50 pm She is running fineThank you for the asking.

Yes, there is no new or alternative production number on ETKA. So I do not know if it is the same or not. It also does not give engine codes for me to tell.
When I put my details in on Autodoc, it says 04C 133 062 C as the OEM number.
I did not check diameter but it fit and looks the same unfortunately

Re: 1.0 TSI Throttle Body
Yeah I changed it last year but with the Fuchs one. But because it was not the same viscosity, on cold day, shifting was hard, even more for the reverse.JiSingh1 wrote: Wed Aug 07, 2024 6:34 pmAh, I thought you changed it last year, or did you just leave it until now?Le_Combattant wrote: Wed Aug 07, 2024 5:50 pm She is running fineThank you for the asking.

Now with the correct one, it's way better.
Okey, so if I was you, I will take the same part number as the orginal one.
I don't know differencies between the two that justify a Part Number revision modification.
Don't waste money, it's not worth.

Re: 1.0 TSI Throttle Body
One thing about doing a "basic settings" procedure on the TB assembly, I think that if illogical voltage values are recorded, then the end result would be " failure" and so old values would be retained and used.
I'm sure, as well, that at every hot switch off, the TB valve is moved through its fully range of movement - or something else gets carried out, also, it has been said that if you switch on just the ignition without allowing the engine to start, and leave the car in this state for maybe 10 minutes, or maybe even a shorter time, the TB will perform an "alignment" or "self cal" - ie check and safe the measured voltage at certain valve angle points - probably just "min" and "max". Removing the battery for maybe 10 minutes and switching on some users - to drain any stored voltage should clear all saved values wrt the TB.
