removing scuttle panel

Post by geddy1972 »

my son has just got for his first car a 2006 Polo E model 1.2 3 cyl

its a great little car in excellent condition with 86K on the clock but it needs a few odds and sods doing on it including the rear washer pipe leaking in the engine bay and the boot latch not unlocking properly

the scuttle panel under the wipers is also full of leaves and other assorted dirt/crap.

i have read on here how to remove the wipers and the plastic scuttle panel cover but there has been a mention of being able to unbolt the panel on the bulkhead to allow easier access to clear out all the rubbish/leaves and dirt that have built up in there.

can anybody confirm this is possible and does anyone have any pictures of where the bolts sit so the panel can be removed.

many thanks if anyone can help.

When my wife had a 2002 9N Polo, I only ever just used maybe a suitable flexible tube to jam onto the end of a vacuum cleaner hose, plus I did buy a proper adaptor to fit that hose for getting into the corners and other restricted areas, also I tried to make sure that this job was only done when that area was dry, also used thin gardening stakes to agitate chunks that were not willing to move!

I was servicing my older daughter's 2019 SEAT Leon Cupra yesterday, unfortunately for them, there is a protected tree in the centre of their small cul de sac, and its needles tend to choke up the under bonnet areas - I suggested a bit of hoovering out should be a regular plan before the weekly car washing.

It's always useful to work out where these areas drains are located so that you can keep them clear.
