Trip Computers

Post by andythebubble »

Do any mk4 polos come with trip computers? If so, what exactly do they show and can they be fitted to other models?

Hello!

In my opinion there that was not availabble in the mk4 and mk5 :-(
You can take a Golf mk3 Dials with MFD, but the wireloom in the mk4 Polo hasn´t the wires for the Things the MFD shows more.
Also you need a Signal from the ECU for the fuel consumption, but all the engines which were available in the mk4 Polo AND in the Golf mk3 (for example the 1.4 8V (AEX) and the 1.6 8V (AEE) also hasn´t the MFD in the Golf.
So what i want to say is you can´t copy it 1:1 from the Golf because nobody knows if the Polo mk4 ECUs gives such fuel consumption signals.
But all other functions will work 100% with all sensors.
Another disadvantage is that the Golf mk3 Dials with MFD has mostly larger wheels than all Polos and so the Speedos are programmed to calculates different to the PoloDials.....what means that such Golf Dials wouldn´t show the correct Speed.
Hmm......perhaps there are some more things you have to consider.......

Cheers

Christian
