3" Exhaust On A GT.

Post by heartagram »

Has anyone got one on there? I've got a 3" round exhaust (backbox) laying around and I dunno weather too fit it cause I have this fear that it will sound uber loud and uber s**t. Not too sure how it would look. I mean if it was a 2" one I'd have it on cause thats a decent size for a Polo. Just thinking 3" might be a bit large. Pics and comments more than welcome!

Cheers!

Too big, too Barry! Especially if it's just the backbox. I'm looking at a full 2 1/4" system for my G40 - and that's shifting a lot more air than a GT. Reckon you'd probably lose a bit of poke, and make it noisier - so don't bother.

A 3" tailpipe will sound fine as long as the pipe bore leading upto and through the back box isnt that big. Max 2" diameter bore on a GT, but a 3" tailpipe finishing it off is fine.

Kam: mine's a 2.5" tailpipe with a 2.25" system from the cat replacement pipe back.

Just as a guide:

Sorry 56k users!

I reckon 2.5" is plenty big enough for a tailpipe, but I've never seen a 3" pipe so I dunno.

I really like your exhaust Alex, looks totally great, looks really stock. That the kinda thing I want. How much did the whole thing set you back if you don't mind me asking?

£200 for the system including de-cat pipe and this tailpipe :?

£20 for the change of tailpipe.

From Longlife Exhausts, at their original location in Cardiff.

In the 4 and a half years since they've expanded and so have their prices, a similar system now would probably be closer to £300.

That said, they're very helpful, and can make you ANYTHING, plus the price includes a lifetime warranty.

Cardiff is a bit far too get an exhaust! Well at the moment anyway. Although I'd rather go half way across the country and get what I want that go down the road and get something thats just 'ok'.

De-cat downpipes are £35 exchange. Middle section with silencer is around £90, without silencer is £60. And the back boxes are £160.

So:

Full system with de-cat and two silencers is £285
Full system with de-cat and one silencer is £255

All plus P&P

f*****g bargain compared to longlife and powerflow if you ask me !
