weird suspension sounds...

Post by pete69zx »

ok, i will just get straight to the point...

my cl coupe has had the front suspensiin inserts changed, also lowering springs, also both top mount bezrings, & also had a track rod end replaced.

All this was in aid to attempt to both upgrade old worn shox / springs & to also pass the MOT! (was told drivers side top mount was the failure, from a VW specialist).

Well, it hasnt cured the issue, but.... the car now makes my fillings wanna drop out! HaHa.

Any suggestions / ideas as to what the problem could be?

I'm not too familiar with a Polo layout (more knowledgeable with Peugeot 205!), so please help! :(

Incidentally, the specialists didnt do the work, another VW guy did all the work regarding suspension.

Cheers

also...

the front end of the car sounds like it 'chatters' when going over speed bumps?

And when i swap dictionfrom forward to reversE and the use the brake pedal... i get a clunk sound from the passengerside front wheel (maybee loose caliper, pads or disc?)

Incidentally....the front brakes are from a Scirocco.

Cheers
Pete.

The chattering you describe could be the pads rattling in the carrier. Even with the anti-rattle springs in place, they can still often do it. I've had it a couple of times. Take the wheel off and try moving the pad up and down to see if it's that.

hardhitter... i think it's more like the balljoints are on there way out :-(

Nevermind, sourced some new ones for 30squid all in for both sides inclusive of new bushes (which will be getting replaced with some Powerflex jobbies as soon as they arrive next week)

Cheers.
