vw sill kick/scuff plates.

Post by genesisGT »

I discovered on etka that vw did kick plates for our cars (shiny strip on sill when you open the door - saying "polo"), does any one have a set fitted on there car? if so any chance of a pic?

Also are coupe and hatchback sills different (length etc) as etka only lists them for coupes?

A will ask vag parts for a price and availability as the plates are available in different styles - "polo" script, plain, a foil strip saying fantasy (never heard of that model either!), or with lines on them.

Some people might be interested in a group buy if they are not to expensive as they add extra bling value! 8) Only prob a see is they might have to be removed every month or so to clean under them so the sills dont start to rust with the trapped moisture.

I have some on mine, but they are black plastic saying polo, I think.

I'll have to investigate tomorrow. Not sure where they came from as I've only had the car 6 weeks.

Good responce!

Petrified - a pic would be great!, each side should be held in with four screws. ETKA doesnt say if they are metal or plastic, a was hoping they were metal! but plastic would do as a could paint the polo script or get it plastic cromed!

take it everyone would prefer metal ones? like the ones on ebay for later model polos!

vwdub lists 3 types-

1- 863 853 907 scuff plate black satin or plain,
2- 871 853 373 rh (374 lh) scuff plate "polo" script, (only listed for coupe) Al make em fit!
3- 871 853 805 crappy foil scuff plate saying "fantasy". (oh er!)

out of that lot a would like number (2) but a will ask vag parts for a price for all and ask what are they made from and if a deal can be done!

Please excuse the messiness of the car, I had to clean the plate too! it was filthy. Roll on spring.

Looks genuine, and the VW mats only cost £18 from Cardiff Volkswagen! :D

Messyness allowed my car looks the same, as there is no point in hovering it as the next passenger just messes it up again! The sill plates look nice (only black and chrome could beat that)! however my polo is black so they will blend in nicely and a could pick out the polo script and lines in white or black paint (sad a know!)

The mats were a good price! a have cheap ass ones in just now.

I love official optional extras 8) - what other optional extras do other people have fitted to there polos?

This is what martin said:

The sill plates, ok, some good news and some no so. The Coupe (871 853 373) Polo script ones, VW stopped making them in 2000, those ones are no longer available I am sorry to say. (Petrefied - remove them if you sell the car!!) see what happens if you stop ordering genuine vdub stuff for a year!

The others are ok:
863 853 907 will be £4.67+vat each side for a GB and the nuts N 014 0872, they will be 5p + vat each. P+P will depend on how many, but its not going to be much really as these are not big or heavy.

(Will find out what they look like)

So basically group buy is a bit pointless.

I will probubally buy a set anyway before they discontinue these ones as well!

I would still be interested, as they are different, and cheaper than the Momo ones, etc you see in 'frauds.
