How do i remove the door!?

Post by buymypolo! »

I want to take the drivers dor off my mk4 polo and take it to the bodyshop to have it sprayed up (car not insured for road). Any ideas on how i can easily detach the wiring for the mirrors and window etc as well as everythin else goin through the black rubber.

Then how do i remove the hinges?

Your help is appreciated!

OK

Mr Harry Aynes says:

locate wiring connector on A-pillar, rotate anti-clockwise and disconnect.

Slacken and remove nut and pivot bolt securing the check link on the door

Prise off the cap on the grub screw on the hinges, support door, remove grub screws. lift door up to remove.

hmmm, haynes says to turn it on the pillar side - what are you using? you might need wd40 and some big spanner / water pump pliers....

also, give it a tap with a metallic hammer. this can often release ceased parts.

I have now had a go at trying to twist this door wiring connector. I have had mole grips on it and also tried to drift it round using a hammer and screw driver. Its not moving. If it takes any more punishment i will probably break something.
