The best i got in my GTI was 31.7 but most of the time it's 25-28mpg

You can try to clean battery connections with sandpaper - i had simular issues but only Immo error stored in ECU and also electric windows were not opening and closing automaticly. Everything is working fine and i have nor errors after i cleaned both connections.
