Gearlever

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my gears:

What happens is when I put a gear in, it will do it, but the base of the gearlever will move around, and it shouldn't! In every normal car, and what the polo used to do, the base of the gearlever stays centeres and the top moves around to get the right gear ...

Battery problems

Got the car back from the garage, new engine mounts, but as my life can't be simple, I have a new problem.

The battery. I got the car from the garage and they told me the battery was weak. I got it fully charged, drove around a bit and parked it. One minute passed, tried to start the car again ...

Coolant

Hi,

This last few days I've been getting the warning light on the dash blinking, which means I need to fill the car with coolant.

Problem is it's already full, and even though the warning light blinks, the car doesn't have any leak or overhearts. Steady 90º.

What could it be? A bad sensor?

You have a excelent DIY guide at the DIY section of the forum. 16v brakes and pads. But it's the same procedure for all polos (all that changes are the discs size)

I did mine, along with the discs and calipers. Not that hard

The starter motor? I thought it was the sparks. Oh well, another thing on the to do list.

I know the clutch only done 50 000 km because i had it changed at 100 000 at the clock is now at the 149 000 km. But I suspect faulty instalation. Either way, got to get a new one to get the car rolling ...

Hey,

Sorry for the late reply.

I do need to change the spark plugs. Everytime I start my car in the cold, the clock resets!!! But did it had the same symptoms?

I've noticed a bit of oil above the clutch, don't know if that is getting inside the clutch plate. I've checked the cable and I think it ...

Power loss

Hello,

After changing the coolant and brake fluid of my car, along with the alternator belt i thought... now the car is mint! I was wrong.

Today I was driving around in the highway and I heard the car revving up when I put my pedal to the floor but no speed came with that? So I was doing 100 km/h ...

Hey,

I need to change the coolant in my polo. Since the garage charges 35€ for this i'm doin't it myself (f i can figure out how!)

Shouldn't there be a "petcock" or a drain plug in the bottom end of the radiator? Or you need to take every tube out and get the engine all dirty with that!?

I've ...

Really like the stubby mirrors.

I've been thinking of doing this but then i think "If i get into a accident because i couldn't see the other car in the smaller mirror", i will feel pretty stupid by getting the smaller mirrors!

No GTI splitter or AeroWipers? It would be only thing I would add to ...

There are some similar to the 6n2 that fits the Polo 6N

Image

But i do prefer the standard 16v fogs, like I got

You can fit the 6n2 ones if you can build a casing/support for them. Since the electrical part is the same.

You do have a petrol light, but you need to put a bulb in there :P if you open your tacho (i seriously do not recommend this) You can see the slot for it.

But did you check if where the bulb fits there's a electrical connection? Because it needs a wire to tell the bulb when to light up. And if ...

Hey,

I asked about the mounting a few days ago!

The wire is pretty easy : since i was doing the 6N2 rears i had access to the brake light wires.

When you get the 3rd break light you will notice it comes with a small plug that has two wires. One is the negative. Just connect it to any negative ...

I also had this doubt when i bought my Polo.

So I decided to drive around until I would either run out of petrol or the light came up. Long story short, i ended up having to walk to a gas station to get some more petrol since the car was dead in the road!!!

After that I was convinced there ...
