rite i got a problem wit the temp gauge on my 2001 polo
the problem with it is it all down to its lowest point for now reson at random times and then comes back up slowly
but its sits normal at 90, as it always did, but then falls
any help y this could b??

I've got the same problem and could only put it down to the sensor being faulty or sticking, this is a complete pain especially in this weather.
I dont really want to take it to my dealer as I think they'll just replace the thing and cant really justify the cost for fixing something that ok at the moment
Does any have any ideas?

when yopuve got the engine cover off look for a place where a few coolany pipes congregate. (usually either on the front or somewhere above the clutch). When you find this look for a pipe with a wire going into it. this is the sensor. Replacement ones are available at www.Vagparts.com.
To replace it slide out the black plastic clip that secures the sensor then pull form the pipe. quickly fit the new on with a new clip and O ring. It helps if you leave the coolant cap on as this seals the coolant system, this means you loose less.
while your in there chenc the engine earths as they dometimes do dodgy things like that.
