You can get a plug and play lead from Halfords, sits between the car wiring and the radio wiring, to make the car wiring standard ISO, so that you should have no probs

May have to swap the power wires, but the lead you get should allow this. No cutting of wires needed at all

You might also need an FM booster device, as the OEM VW radio had this built in, when you put a 3rd party headunit in, you will find reception may be poor, to overcome this, you can fit an inline FM booster device at the same time

Hope helps

hi
just a thought is your alpine fairly new, if so have you installed it before?

if it has a inbuilt amp, 4x 40-50w you may need to take a direct feed from the battery and not from iso connector,as this has caught me out before if in doubt read the manual it should help

i have a clarion headunit (mp3 player) in my GTI and all i had to do is swap the ignition live with the constant live, now it works fine!

i might be tempted to get the radio signal booster as i dont really get as goo a reception as i did before....

Funny isn't it, the S in ISO means STANDARD yet VW use a different STANDARD to everyone else?!

alpine head unit

just install alpine head unit, changer and kicker amp plus 2x12 subs, only problem that i found was the switched live had to be changed so that i didnt have to turn it off manually, ran 4gauge cable from battery to fused distrubution block in boot then reduced down to 8gauge to split off to kicker amp and smaller alpine amp for front diamond audio m5 components, which i dont think i'll fit as standard sound stage is ok,they are now powered by internal 4x60w from alpine h/unit

repeat after me
i do not need 6x9s if i do hit me with some 4x2

I didn't want big ass cables everywhere, so my solution was to convert it to 400V then back to 14V at the sub. That way you can get 8kW down a piece of lighting cable. Far easier to route.

I still have the schematics for it, but it is quite dangerous and can be difficult to isolate noise.
