mine is well sporadic, if you flick the fan switch around it comes on, then it goes off... dunno what my problem is.

sounds like a dodgy connection to the bulb

I'm having the same trouble as the mint with the hole. The light turns on and off if I hit the side of the console. Kinda works like a switch. Hmm dodgy :?

Is it possible to change the colour of the light behind the heater controls to the blue / red thing like can be done with the dash?
can be changed to red easily by changing the film with the little pics on it...comes as standard in one of the seats...think its the ibiza

Actually, some Polo's don't come with the heater lights. Mine didn't (1997 1.0 L) and so i fitted my own light. If you pop the panel off and look you should see two little hole where the bulbs would be but aren't. what model is your polo? L, CL etc.

I think some do and some don't have them as standard. Either that or the owner before me was in desperate need of a dash bulb!

My bulb went..

To replace it... grab the center control (the one for the fan) and pull it out.. inside you will see the bulb.. get some plyers/tweazer type tool to pull it out.. i then got another bulb from halfords, pushed it in an wolah.. done.. :)
