i rang up my current insurance company cis insurance, and asked about mods such as wheels, lights, exhaust and lowering springs, so i was told they wont insure me no matter what mods! even if they are checked out... so i am going to leave them and i have been quoted by quinn direct £1125 thats fully comp in my dads name i am 19 and i am wondering u guys know any1 else i cud go with cheaper? i have until tomorrow night other wise my current insurance will run into the next month and then i lose something like 100quid
just dont declare all mods
it saves me bags of money not declaring mods but im also running a big risk aswell i know!
maybe when im older i will learn!
The only thing he said to me was it's best to check with them before you do it, just to make sure.
And Ben, you really should decare them mate, you do know that by not declaring them your insurance is void, thus meaning basically that you are not insured.
that doesn't sound right at all mate, im with CIS too and they know about everything i've done to mine- coilovers, induction kit, exhaust etc. the woman i spoke to said my policy will not change as long as i dont do anything that will massively alter the bhp of the car, even though i have the induction kit and exhaust.
try calling again mate, i think it depends on who you speak to.

Now you say that actually, It's just made me remember when I was with CIS on my first car (as a named driver) I had a K&N 57i fitted, and the premium was unaffected.
mint so i am gettin bsed to put it bluntly its just annoyin me so badly am not botherd about spending the extra cash its the fact tht i dont want too, and i dont want to void my policy, if i hit someone and they die i go to jai, so you reakon its worth a call back? i think they will have noted down that i have called and asked them questions...
if you wanna add alloys to your policy do they generally say that it's no extra charge unless you start doing engine mods then? i'm with elephant.
p.s i'd declare all mods, if i can't afford the insurance then i don't do the mods.....same reason why i havn't got a G40 right now just because i wouldn't be able to afford the insurance (as well as othr G40 related costs)
they've just given me a goodish quote
try HIC (have to ring up) (08451 290 290)
try Breatacre (01792 650933) they were very helpful with my quote!!
also try tesco!!
tesco are pretty good when it comes to modds, theyll charge you but they will allow them, BUT, get your policy on the web 1st to get ur 10% online discount, then ring them up to and say you've done them.
im with admiral, but if ur gonna do up ur car, u usually wudnt say coz they add so much more on, just get the insurance at woteva it is 4 the standard car an then do it up urself without sayin anything, just b a careful driver an hope u dont crash
F u c k.... yous all have me really worried now lads. Its something I always kinda forgotten/ overlooked. My tv etc would def affect it I would say.... Never mentioned any mods at all...
