i've had my polo 2 years nearly now and i've loved every minute of owning it, all be it a little under-powered but i go for looks

I love your car, it just shows you how much difference lowering your can be, it looks sooo much better !!

i actually know naff all about lowering, wot do u recommend, cos when i get my tints done i'm gonna get new wheels and get it lowered.
i dont know anything about the springs or coilovers ??? there a difference ?
i cant really have my touchin the floor as i keep my car in the garage, to stop chavvin gets nickin anything, and theres abit of a ramp to get in/out. any advice would be great.

Alright mate,

Basically springs are cheaper by about 50%. When buying springs get a kit including springs & shock absorbers.
Coilovers are better... You can adjuct your ride height. So if you need to get over speed bumps all day long you set it (eg. -50mm) and if you dont need to be going over any humps then you go (eg. -80mm or as low as the coilovers will let you).

Thats about all I know.

Does the foot rest bit next to the clutch come out? It would be cool, to cover that with a bit of Stainless Steel to match the pedals

ben - ive got the same ariel on my car, it makes it look so much smoother instantly, if i ahd the money if get it removed and smoothed, i dont listen to the radie

cant wait to get mine lowered, youve made me even more eager!!

On the bigger VAG cars like the Golf, Passat, A4 and so on, yes there is a stainless cover like the pedals that fits over the plastic footrest. On our Polos I don't think that the footrest is actually removable from the footwell but I agree, it would be awesome to have a stainless cover for the Polo, I reckon it would have to be custom fabricated from a TT or Golf footrest though? Definitely worth investigating

Also Ben, re the exhaust, well I just had a custom one made up and asked for it to be hidden behind the bumper like the OE item. Simple as. But as far as I know there isn't an off-the-shelf option like from Scorpion or Magnex for example. In PVW this month there is a quick feature in the staff rides bit on a Scorpion backbox for their Golf mk4 which is downturned and squeezed behind the bumper like a diesel! It is the prototype version of the retail back box (PVW's Golf was the guinea pig).

That footrest is removable - ive taken it out in the past, just a torx screw I think holding it

I don't even use mine ever, as I find my foot gets stuck under the pedal if I do..

yeah, i use mine on the motorway or long stretches where u dont need to change gear, but then when u need to change gear ur foots lodged under the clutch!! bad design

hehe it was sneakily added during my chav stage (hence the shopping list on the drivers door!)

the hidden exhaust isn't a priority at the moment, im after a new set of rims really, but its something to think about!

@ Toby.....my Aerial is just the standard one cut in half

makes the radio reception dire but hey thats what the internet and bit torrent is for

hahaha, i thought it was a beesting, my mate bought his for his punto and it didnt fit so i bought it off him at mates rates, it looks tidy, whats the top of it like? cna you tell its cut?

its abit smaller than beesting and its really flexible hehe
the top is sort of domed, i cut it then burned around the top to melt it into a smooth top, looks different and im a self-confessed cheap skate!
