Polo Questions

Post by Giorgio »

If a car has no GT badges just Genesis badges (but an insurance website says its a GT) is it a GT? How would I know

How can I cure surface rust?

And are G40 arches a straight fit onto a Genesis?

Thanks people 8) 8)

Look on you V5 document, it will tell you the model on there.

Plus take a pic of the engine and one of us will tell you right away if its a GT or not.

My gt came up as a 1ltr on one of the insurance websites so it just goes to show they do get things wrong.

HAHA, Tesco swore blindly to me that my G40 was a 1.0l parade or something like that. I even used the RAC vehicle check and phoned the DVLA, apparently they are both wrong because Tesco insurance machine is right.

Oh yeah, a GT/NZ engine is mulitpoint injection, meaning that on the inlet manifold there will be 4 injectors, each positioned near each spark plug.

The GT's hall sender is verticle wheras the NZ hall sender is on a 45' angle facing the front.

A GT has the large plastic arches that G40's have. A GT also has wheel trims with a black centre piece. The grill will have a black VW emblem. Just some little things to look for.

As he states above a "proper" gt will have all those things but just incase yours has had just the engine change look at the air box...Is it a big round black dustbin lid ontop of the engine? if yes then its not a gt/nz/g40 :-)
