what amp/sub to get
Ive no idea mate, the ratings company's quote are very rarely what you'll see.
Different impedances of different subs, how good your power supply is, how good an earth you have etc etc will all influence the power your amp will produce.
I would think a 500wrms amp at 14.4v would struggle to produce 400rms at 12v.
Its all guesses though, and TBH its not that important

Also depends on whether they under-rate or over-rate their amp's power figures.
I know the quoted 1ohm power of the amp I'm getting is 1500w RMS but apparently is more like 1800w RMS, again that's at 14.4 but I should be seeing somewhere near 1400-1500 I should think.
*EDIT* save some money and buy the SE, it will laugh at 500w RMS

noting the things you guys said about the 14.4 power. it seems most of the ratings shown on that site and others are rated at 14.4v anyway.
also another contendor the jbl 601.1

hmm seems like a good deal to me. although which amp should i get. jbl or kenwood. a lot of ppl are saying the jbl has good clean sound, although the kenwood has more power but apparently i saw on a website som guy complaining it heats up too quickly and keeps cutting out. wether or not it was faulty or not i dont know.ModifiedMadness wrote:I'd have thought either would power it sufficiently mate, so it's all up to you really.
You'll need an amp wiring kit as well, 4guage would be good for that combo![]()
I've met Neil before and he seems like a sound guy so you shouldn't have any problems dealing with him
Nice pair of subs for sale here.
