How do you Know if your 1.4 is a 100bhp or a 75 bhp?

i think the 100bhp ones have a 16v badge in the front grille and on the boot. they also have flat spoke alloys 6 spoke i think. sporty sorta seats
thas all i can think of lol shud say dohc on the engine aswell

wasn't the 75 8v?
if so you can tell just by looking to see if it has deeper sideskirts (as on 16v models)

60 was 8v, 75 was 16v

Mine has the deeper sideskirts, but mine is only 75bhp (says 16v on the engine). Best way to find out is reg number

Its an AHW engine code, 1.4 SE, which has 75bhp. It runs one timing belt, as opposed to the 100bhp which runs two.

afaik all mk5 polos run a single timing belt, my lupo does and uses the same 100bhp engine (AFK)

Thats just what my timing belt book says at work. My gti runs two belts, one that does the length from crankshaft to one of the cams, the other joins the cams.
The 6n2 100bhp's apparantly run the same system, whilst the 75's have one belt that goes round the lot. May be wrong but thats what gates say.
