wasn't the 75 8v?
if so you can tell just by looking to see if it has deeper sideskirts (as on 16v models)

Its an AHW engine code, 1.4 SE, which has 75bhp. It runs one timing belt, as opposed to the 100bhp which runs two.

Thats just what my timing belt book says at work. My gti runs two belts, one that does the length from crankshaft to one of the cams, the other joins the cams.

The 6n2 100bhp's apparantly run the same system, whilst the 75's have one belt that goes round the lot. May be wrong but thats what gates say.
