will try to do it

main mods were declared - wheels and lowered

insurance assessment place has the car - so can't change anything for obvious reasons. If she gets the full money back for her mods then it's fine, but if not then we will have to ask if we can change them back to the vw standard lights, stereo, mirrors (and gearknob). see what they say (probably "no"!). i hope we can do it, but i am clueless with regards to what they usually do.

has anyone else had this experience?

excellent

it was 2500 worth of damage, and the car is worth 3k, maybe 3500 with the wheels on. It's borderline, will hear next week.

Will try to get the bits back if it's a write off. Will let u know...

It's worth 3k plus the wheels, and we were told that about 70% of the insured price is the borderline write off figure.... so it's close if you include the wheels. she should know early this week. we were looking at Autotrader this weekend and I was trying to convince her to go for a late 1.4 16v mkiv. I was pushing for KarlM's motor too, but I think she reckons it's too old compared to the ones she's looking at (although it offers a lot more bang for your buck!)

what's the deal with the wheels then? if they're insured then they should give what they're worth too, unless we take em?

they still haven't bloody decided - taking their time. apparently it was between 2 and 2.5k, so it looks like they haven't reached a decision yet.
