New Wheels - First mod :)

Post by shantybeater »

Just went all the way and got hold of some RX'II 16's, the ones I have always wanted. The only problem is they are sitting on 205/45/16 tyres. My car is standard and I will eventually upgrade to a nice set of 195/40's when I have the cash but skint now, question is will they be able to fit right on or am I going to need spacers etc..???

The car hasn't been lowered yet so i'm hoping they will just soak up the extra space temporarily

I think Mouse fitted the same wheels with 195/45 profile tyres whilst he was at standard height, I'm sure he'll confirm soon enough :)

I have 215/45/16s ET28 on standard suspension but they rub like mad.
Even with the N/S/F arch lining removed it still rubs in reverse and on full lock.
205s should be fine for a while though.

I had 16" RXIIs with 205/45/16s on.

They rubbed a lot on the back, and that was with standard suspension.

Oooh, nice one mate! You soon will become a member of a very exclusive club

Were they the ones on ebay? I saw that the tyres were nearly new Dunlops. Maybe you could take them off the wheels and sell them on ebay, and use the profits to buy a set of new Toyo T1-R's in 195/40/16 8)

You don't need spacers to fit them. They're VW fitment, so they will be spot-on.

I only put spacers on mine to widen them, as they do look quite tucked into the arches.

Ha ha ha, I must have been bidding against you at one point Shantybeater as I was looking at them also... I actually need just the one wheel but getting hold of just one is another matter!

Well done, they will fit straight on but I have 195/40/16 as mine had previous 205 and they were rubbing slightly. You'll love them as I do mine! Well done!

Yeah i'm hoping so, ever since I bought the car I knew they had to be got. Cyhliu your car is looking awesome, what have you got it lowered to/with ??

I'm going to try and bang them on tonight as they are, hopefully they will last 3 weeks like that without too many problems(no speed bumps on the way to work) and then I can deal with changing the tyres.

Probably not going to parallel park for about 14 years either, certainly wont' be going near the curb haha

Yup and they rubbed like crazy at the front after around 1000 miles. Now lowered 60mm on 195/40's and no rubbing even on full lock

Yeah, Shantybeater, they are on Eibach Sportline springs and OE shocks. Had them sometime now and I'm v.happy with them, the shocks probably need replacing soon...

If anyone knows someone selling one or a couple of the BBS RXII 16" let me know please as they a b****** to find!
