mine are 16.5cm - they are a nice fit. I upgraded mine to Encounter speakers, which have a 250W peak, but I have them running off an amp so they are much more powerful.

It will be difficult to use uprated speakers on the gamma, as its max output is 4x20w. To run a 250w speaker will put quite a bit of strain on it :(

Personally, I would have it amped. The GAMMA HU has preouts on it - you need an adaptor from www.bluespot.co.uk to get the leads for it to work :)

The peak may be 250w Alex, but I bet if you gave it a full 250w it would last a few seconds before smoking and then failing :D

The ONLY figure to pay any attention to is the RMS figure.

Exactly as I said peak. I think mine are about 150W each on the RMS and ive got a 300W amp running them :D

BETA headunits dont have a preout unfortunately. The reason they pop is usually due to the headunit - factory fit speakers are fairly durable. The popping is because the signal gets so distorted where its amplified, all you get is nasty sounds :P It happened on my old BETA

What speakers are you running Alex?

For decent 150w RMS components you'd be looking at a fair bit of £££

I mean to put in to context, the new ones I'm getting retail for £550 but I will not be paying that much for them

Sorry i was a little out :P Mine are 75W RMS and 240W Max. Theyre encounter CM-65s. In my opinion really good little speakers. The bass is sometimes an issue, but quite rare it causes a problem.
