Engine and gearbox obviously - if the engine's knackered it's still worth taking the injection system for someone who might want to convert their CL to multipoint injection, and GT inlet manifolds are highly desirable to the G40 boys. Make sure you get the inline fuel pump too.

The arch trims are worth taking (if it's a coupe), as is the interior, rear axle, and dash clocks. And the badges too, as these are now obsolete I believe. Also check the petrol tank - these are prone to rusting at the filler neck and are pricey from VAG. It's a pig to get off, but you'd sell it easily.

I'm interested in the inlet manifold from it.

where abouts is it? If you dont buy it, I'll go & get the inlet manifold off it.

i don't know if u know derbyshire at all, but its at chesterfield.

rung the lad (had a rough mobile signal tho  )

and basically, the car is ok apart from a bar that has snapped next to the engine :?: so now when he goes around corners the wheel goes up into the arch. he was told the bar could be plated or welded together or sumthing, but wants to sell the car to someone who will break it and not put it back on the road because of that problem.allthough it may be an easy repair :?:

From what you descibe, it could be the anti-roll bar thats snapped.

But for the money, theres a lot of stuff there to be had.

eh? if the only thing wrong with it is a broken anti-roll bar (assuming thats all thats wrong) then surely it'd be dead easy to get it back on the road?? :?

My thoughts exactly! :?

As a car to get to a 'show' standard it sounds pretty defunct. But as a cheap performance hatchback, bargain! 8)

but if ur only buying it for £150, then you breaking it up might give you a better return than trying to get it back to working order

All depends on whether you want a cheap runaround or not! Wasn't saying he should buy it to keep was just suggesting someone COULD.

An anti-roll bar won't be silly money and you can always buy one from German and Swedish to make it even cheaper 8)

still haven't been to see it :x

im not 100% sure it is the ARB, its just what i've been told it could be.

also: if i did get it, it'd be more profitable to sell it as a whole car methinks.

but hey: can't plan anything until i've seen it

well since you could probably buy an intact arb from a scrappy for about £10, I'd say you were miles better off fixing it up & selling it as a whole car.

i think there must be more to it. otherwise the current owner would fix it up.

Unless he was being spun a line by some dodgy garage that were hoping he'd part-ex it to them cheaply....

Or the shock damper has snapped in half!
