What's the score on the downpipes now Dan, any definate date? Not that it matters much to me - it'll be a few weeks before I have a working engine back in my car!
Oh yeah, forgot to add - can ya save me a chip please. If I'm getting a GT engine in to tide me over I may as well make it a bit nippier! Can always flog it on to me mate anyways.
I might be able to sell one without exchange. Obviously it will be more, as theres a surcharge for the downpipe. Not sure how much it will work out, I will let you know. I can do a chip with it, no problem. I know burton, it's not too far actually.
Sweet cheers dude if you can find out for me how much both will cost and pm me i would be greatful. Would you meet then some where like marketon(spelling) roundabout.
errrr.....should have made that clearer. Does it de-cat the car? that is a massive bonus if it does. Mines a '92 J so it doesn't need a cat for the emmisions anyway does it?
The pipes Dan does are based on standard downpipes, but with the cat section replaced with straight through pipe. So they fit straight on in place of your current downpipe. Supposed to make a noticeable difference on a G40, I can't comment from first hand experience yet though!
Yes, like Andy said the downpipes are made from original ones with the cat 'cut-out' and pipe welded in it's place. As it's a J reg you don't need a cat, so you might as well remove it to free a little power. You should notice an improvement in performance as theres less restriction in the exhaust.
I've had some downpipes made, Andy's G40 one is ready along with others.
The design has been improved with the extra bracket added for the clutch cable support, plus opening the ports a little.
There is currently one available if anyone is interested ?
I've got a cat back stainless steel system with a decat pipe.
So, I'm assuming effectively I have the same kit as I would have if I had one of your downpipes... but... thinking on it if I got myself a G40 manifold and one of your downpipe would that do me any favours? Or would I need only the G40 manifold.
Or am I confused totally, and thinking of the exhaust manifold when I want the inlet manifold?
Yes, the G40 exhaust manifold and downpipe would make an improvement. They have bigger ports and runners, while keeping the same diameter where it meets the centre pipe, so it will join to your system. Both the manifold and downpipe are needed otherwise it wont mate up.
If I had a camera I would take a picture to show the difference.
You want to keep the inlet manifold, thats a bigger bore than G40.
