I ask as i'm stuggling to justify keeping my anni as i doesn't get used much and was thinking of a polo tdi after seeing your car.
Was it much of a "come down" if at all?

What sort of power and torque would it make once remapped?
Its not that much of a come down to be honest. The polo feels solid like the golf and it did'nt feel hugely slow on acceleration compared to the 1.8T golf. The most noticeable thing though was the lack of rev range and the need to change gear much sooner as the polos a diesel!

Just think of it as a scaled down Golf, still solid and reliable but smaller!

You can get about 140bhp and 220torque out of a mapped 1.9tdi and 60 mpg+ if you drive it carefully.

And a coupe of pics of my Golf as im a pic whore...

Hey
Sorry im bumping this thread! I not been on here for a while but saw your post regarding the whole "mini" thing!

I get what people say about the whole "girls car" thing etc and yeh ok you see mainly woman drive them but they are great!

I had a 1.4 TDI Polo and it was great especially on econemy but always liked the MINIs and wasnt gonna let the whole "girls car" thing put me off so got a Cooper! (cooper s was a bit steep insurance wise for me lol)

Dont get me wrong I do miss my Polo and it was a solid great car. It was either the A3, Golf or MINI for me when I considered with changing and I went with the MINI. Some I know will say I was nuts but its just different and quite fun to drive. Like someone else said, they stick to the road like anything on fast bends!!

Either way though each to there own. I would easily have a Golf, A3 or another Polo if I wanted to change
