Just a couple of weeks ago I did a DYI FMIC for my Polo...
Bought a FMIC, 2 metres of stainless steel pipe, few silicone hoses and clamps... Lots of cutting and welding + 12 hours of work and even more swearing...
Cost me around 300 euros all together...

Intake temps are now around 27-33 degrees celcius...
With the OEM SMIC they were around 35-60 degrees celcius depending was I moving or not...
Sadly I don't know if it increased any BHP...Feels like it did???

Looks cool though...

Thats the way to do it... blood sweat and tears.....

Those temps sound good.....

Constant cooler temps mean more boost is possible or more advance - more power more safely.

Never tried welding - perhaps now is the time ??

Welded it all together with TIG. Takes a little bit of time but it really is worth it.

Sure I could have fitted a bigger cooler. Just didn't see the point of cutting out half of the bumper to get it fitted right. Surely this 280x300x76 core does the trick for me at this "stage" (not remapped yet). If I'll need a bigger one I'll get one eventually.

Updates they sent me a pipe run pics and all components etc, might be cheaper to copy it as the intercooler looks like a universal one! Ill ask him its size etc!!!
