Insurance on a GTi..

Post by daa709 »

Just called up my insurance company about a quote for the same deal I have now but on a polo GTi.. (basically I'm a named driver along with the rest of the family, with my mum as the registered driver)

They will insure for £390 (for my mum, dad, bro and sis - who are much older), but without me on the named driver list as I have to be 21 with at least 2 years no claims etc for the GTi! (I'm 19)

I'm a bit disappointed as I really want one, and VW are offering me one to swap for my current Polo, but I'm wondering, what are the insurance quotes like for the GTi owners on the forum? And more importantly, anyone under 21??

Cheers,
David

im 23 with 2 years ncb, (no convictions or bumps, always just been a names driver on other cars) and my insurance with everything declared is £731.30 a year

i imagine a lot will depend on your crime rating for your area, given by the post code

I'm also 23, but with 5 years NCB and 5 points on my licence. Fully comp costs me £800, would be less but I live in South London

I'm paying just short of £1000. I'm 22 with 0 NCB and 3 points!

I'm hoping for a drop of £100 when my renewal is due!

Happy days!

Got quoted £1200 on elephant.co.uk for me as main driver fully comp. Rang them after internet quote, and they said if my mum was the main driver, it would be at least £200 cheaper.

Still doesn't beat current insurance, £370 w/ direct line on a 1.4.

I'm going in to VW this friday...
