Hi Mate,
I've changed my stereo to a single DIN unit.
In (some) 9N Polo's 2003ish had single DIN stereos fitted with a little cubby box/shelf fitted underneath... These are the best to use as look spot on and match your interior.
I got mine from my VW dealer for around £20quid ish.
However don't make the same mistake that me/my dealer done....
They come in 2parts which order seperately
#1 The plastic dash cubby box itself
#2 A little rubber mat that fits inside
To fit.... Just push in and it clips together perfectly!
Or maybe try vagparts, search "Din Size dash cubby box" ????
Hope that helps!

Yep that's all you'll need to make it Physically fit.
You may already know this, but you'll also need the following to make the aftermarket headunit work.....
1# CAN-BUS --> ISO wiring harness
2# Antenna Amplifier (as ariel amp is lost when you remove the OEM unit)
See link...
http://www.bluespot.co.uk/install/show_model.asp?id=297
Go to very bottom of page to PART REF: 7607621175 .... This is what you need and as a bonus also comes with the Antenna Amp (the silver cylinder looking thing) included in the kit.
It's pretty easy to fit.... I done mine myself.
Good Luck
Dan
