as far as im aware mate there is a sticker on the inside of you boot. Basically open the boot and stick your head into the boot as if your looking between your legs. There should be a sticker with loads of numbers and letters on it. The engine and the gearbox should be on this. Its usually 3 letters. Someone will correct me if im wrong.

Service book to hand then?

if so it should be printed on a sticker within the first page. The gearbox code would be 3 letters. A 6n 16v gearbox is CWX for example.

Any idea about which model polo it came off, 1.0, 1.4CL, 1.6, 16v?

someone may be able to help out on which box goes with the car it came from to help out although people do sometimes put a box from another model into theirs.

Not sure if them numbers are the part number, which I doubt. Would've thought the box code would be stamped on too!

definatialy not a 1.6 or 16v....

because my car is a 1.4 8v...with a gearbox code of DQW....when i put this 1 in...the gear ratio was so different...

i would be reving quite high up at 90mph.

but the accellation was much quicker...

so i was thinking it maybe a 1.0?

or just a 1.4 but with a different gear ratio...

i just cant member was did i check if it was a 1.4 when i bought it from the car...lol
