coilover height adjustment
coilover height adjustment
this has been bugging me now for some time and thought id even try to redo it today.
my driver side rear coilover dont seem to wanna lower. i lowered the spring about an inch today and was hoping it would do the trick and then took it for a drive around my block over about 20 speed bumps and back to my house and was hoping that would fix it but it hasnt.
as far as im ware the other 3 are ok its just this one......
i got them second hand of someoen so cant really complain to them about it.
theyre evo ones........ n e one know wat the problem is? would it need to be taken apart and rebuilt or something?

thsi is the only pic i have for now not sure if this helps u tho.
basically when i lowered the nuts the gap between the wheel and the arch were the same as when i didnt lower it. altho i think it has lowered itself a bit more today so wat i might do is try to lower it again when im of work and leave it for a while and see wat happens.
unless u have n e other ideas?
well i have noticed that it seems to lower itself more so looks like tomorrow ill be lowering it more and getting the height right.
also another question, if i have all the coilovers the sme height i.e all front and rear spring adjuster nut things are the same height from the bottom will the arch gap be the same on the front and back or does the front have to be lower then the back?

ok. well i lowered it anyway using the original method if marking a stick. basically putting one end of the stick ont he bottom of the arch in the middle, putting a mark where i want the top of the rim to be then emasuring the distance between the lines and lowering the coilie by that much, then obviously wanting the rim the same height on the other wheel so again measuring the distance it needs to be lowered by etc etc etc.
so far it does look low but think i will have to remeasure as they dont soom low enough and cant remember if i changed it or not.
also i wanna sort my bumpers out so im getting second hand front and rear bumper of ebay, and then gonna smooth then and then get them sprayed at a body shop.
was thinking, does anyone have n e pics of the 6n2 polo standard bumper with the 2 outer grills smoothed? am thinking of doing this but wanna have a look if n e one has done it yet so i can see wat it looks like..........
and befor n e one says it yes, i know the driver side has the hole for the break down tow ring.
