I can pick up a G40 block for my car without the charger
After pricing the charger up (and trying to find one!) i've decided to replace it with a turbo. So i need a bit of help.
I need to source:
A metal head gasket
a smallish turbo
a custom manifold to bolt the turbo to.
Can anyone help or give advice on this conversion?
No need for a metal head gasket by the way. A G40 one can cope with well over a bar of boost. Don't know the exact limit but plenty of people with G40s (myself included) run a smidge over a bar with no problems.
You mentioned somewhere else about needing it to lower the compression ratio as well, theres no need for that as a G40 engine already has a lowered ratio using a larger bowl in the piston crowns.
You'd only need to do that if you were fitting a turbo to a previously naturally-aspirated engine.
